Social Impact

ReGen is dedicated to strengthening community ties and preserving the unique cultural and historical identity of vulnerable communities. Our programs are designed to promote wellness, social mobility, and provide increased access to essential services for residents. This includes initiatives that support whole resident populations - healthy food systems, cooperatives, intergenerational programming and  community workshops that focus on community resilience and cohesion.

Projects

The Paradise Center

Consultant-in-Residence

The Paradise Center  is dedicated to fostering a society where prosperity is measured not by wealth alone, but by well-being and empowerment of all its members. Our mission is centered on mobilizing resources to meet the needs of families and communities, empowering them to leverage their own strengths, and offering comprehensive support for skill development, education, and life-changing opportunities.

The Paradise Center operates through specialized committees focusing on governance, finance and facilities, communication and community engagement, and programs in housing, education, and wellness. Our targeted areas of impact include supporting children and youth, enhancing housing and education opportunities, promoting lifelong learning, and fostering wellness across all dimensions of life.

The Journey: History of Community, Culture, and Resilience

The cultural history and heritage of Northwest Atlanta’s historic institutions and neighborhoods has been and continues to remain a significant part of the identity and resilience of legacy residents. Concomitantly, the adverse community or trauma elements for some have resulted in a level of paralysis or the inability to rapidly respond to the challenges of gentrification and economic realities.

The Journey: History of Community, Progress, and Resilience (“The Journey”) is intended to be a perpetual project that documents and celebrates the rich history and culture of people and institutions that have shaped the Donald Lee Hollowell (formerly Bankhead Highway) corridor from the early 1960s to the present. The Journey’s capstone outcome will build upon oral and virtual history collections and culminate into a creative placemaking effort to honor the legacy of resilience and progress of people and places. Paradise Baptist Church and The Paradise Center will serve as the central institutions of the Journey project.
